c.  It is to be understood that the term democracy has been derived from two Greek words demos which means people and Kratos which means power, thus it implies power to the people.
 d. In the modern sense, we follow representative form of democracy, where people elect their representatives through means of elections, who in turn make laws for them.
e.  It is crucial to ensure government is based on popular consent and runs as per rule of law.
g Redefinition of Democracy calls for alert and active citizenry which goes beyond voting, peoples' participation  prevents government from becoming tyrannical.

The most popular definition of democracy is “Democracy is a government of the people, for the people and by the people”. This definition holds good position in political context.
Butin social context or in our daily lives, it may be redefined as
(i) The rulers elected by the people must take all the major decisions.
(ii) Elections must offer a choice and opportunity to all the people to change the current rulers.
(iii) This choice and opportunity should be available to all the people on an equal basis.
(iv) The exercise of this choice must lead to a government, limited by basic rules of the Constitution and citizens’ rights.
