Given : (–1, a), (b, 15) and (c, –20) lie on the line 5x – y = 0

Since (–1, a) lie on the given line

Putting x = –1 and y = a we get

– 5 – a = 0

⇒ a = –5

Similarly putting

x = b and y = 15

and x = c and y = –20 we get

5b – 15 = 0

⇒ 5b = 15

$\Rightarrow b = \frac{15}{5} = 3$

and 5c + 20 = 0

⇒ 5c = –20

$\Rightarrow c = \frac{- 20}{5} = - 4$

Hence a = –5, b = 3 and c = –4
