Environment means the surroundings. Land, water, air, plants, animals, solid wastes and other things that are surrounding us constitute our environment. Man and environment are closely intertwined with each other, to maintain a balance or equilibrium in nature.

Different groups of people working in different areas express it in various ways. When physical scientists talk about environment they generally refer to the physical environment that comprises the three inter locking systems the Atmosphere, the Hydrosphere and the Lithosphere.

Biologists often refer to biological environment consisting of all living organisms of the Biosphere. Similarly social scientists refer to the social, cultural, economic and organizational environment.

Hence environment may be defined as "the sum of all social, cultural, economical, biological, physical and chemical factors surrounding the 'man' to give necessary protection to him."

Two types of environment we may come across. One is the natural environment of the air, water, solid wastes, noise, radiation, soil, timber, wildlife and living space etc. The second one is the man-made environment that deals with work environment, housing, technology, aesthetics, transportation, utilities, settlement, urbanization and so on.

These environmental components are considered as the resources and are mostly exploited and utilized by the men to fulfill their basic physical needs they can be considered as the fellow members of the global eco-system with which men establish emotional, intellectual, or physical relationships and these provide the basis for a sense of purpose of life to them.

Thus, man is firmly placed as an important part of the global ecosystem, which depends on him much as he depends on it. Hence, there is a close relationship between man and environment.

The environment around us consists of many different topics and issues. One little change in our environment is enough to determine the course of mankind. The world can only be preserved when we take action to study and save it. Studying the cycles of the world and discerning the cause and effects of our actions will allow us to help keep a healthy environment and let us live an enjoyable life. The carbon cycle starts off in many different ways, fossil fuels, respiration, and factory emissions. Then as the cycle continues, carbon that is transmitted into the oxygen will then be taken in by plants and animals as they intake vegetables and other autotrophic organisms. Then as organisms and waste products die, they will start the process of decomposing and begin returning the carbon that they have taken during their lifetime. Without the carbon cycle, many of the worldly systems would stop functioning properly. For example problems like the increase of the greenhouse effect, global warming, ozone depletion, and acid rain would rise dramatically.Greenhouse gases are gases that help the planet trap heat and warmth. Carbon dioxide is one of these gases. Without carbon dioxide the world would become so cold that it would start freezing. Although carbon dioxide is needed for our survival on this world, humans have burned so much fossil fuel and imputed so much more carbon dioxide that it has started being harmful to our world. The heat trapped by the greenhouse gases is slowly but gradually increasing, this is slow increase in the heat is not only affecting the temperature but also causing global warming in various places around the world.Global warming is the increase in the normal temperature the 1990s to our current time. Global warming not only means the change in temperature but also the changes in solar radiance.Global warming causes the regular weather in different parts of the world to go haywire and temperatures to go to the...

Our earth is the only planet in the universe which has an environment suitable for life. Air and water is needed for survival. Earth provided these essentials and man used them. This usage over the period has led to serious pollution problems that can be hazardous.

Many industries have come up owing to rapid urbanization. Furthermore, there is an ever increasing demand of petrol and diesel for running various means of transport. As a result, a heavy amount of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, sulphur-dioxide and many more gases are polluting the air. The major threat to humanity comes from the development of nuclear sciences.

The nuclear experiments worldwide are destroying the atmospheric balance. The poisonous gases, chemicals and dust released into the air fall back on earth as acid rain harming crops and life. This has caused various harmful diseases.

Rain water is considered as the purest form of water. Water pollution in lakes, rivers, ponds and other water bodies is caused by surface water which carries a large amount of chemical discharge of industries and inorganic discharge of city sewage. Such impurities are a serious threat to the existence of mankind.

Our country faces one more problem i.e. noise pollution. Loud horns during traffic chaos, screaming loudspeakers at different occasions and blasting crackers that almost make one deaf are killing the peaceful silence. Use of silencers, abiding by proper traffic regulations and checking excessive use of public speaker systems can help in reducing noise-pollution.

This is the time of implement the steps for environmental Protection. It has been rightly said that there is something in this world money cant buy, such as beautiful scenery and fresh air.

We live in a rapidly growing and constantly changing world. Technology saves us time and has made many of our tasks so much simpler yet even if our lives are easier and more fun with more leisurely time some of these changes are threatening our existence and that of all life here on our World. Our Air is being poisoned; our rivers are becoming water ways in which toxic wastes flow and our seas are becoming garbage dumps that contain huge patches of plastic wastes hundreds of miles across. Some of us may be ignorant of these issues while others feel helpless and just want to forget about it hoping these problems will somehow disappear. They will not disappear and we need to educate those around us about these problems and empower and motivate them by showing them what they can do about it. As the secretary of the Environmental Club at my school I put in as much time and effort as humanly possible to help raise awareness of these issues as well as some things we can do about them. I try to keep our group focused by suggestions on recycling and energy use and cell phone collections. In October we raised awareness on water use by writing on cut out fish papers to get the attention of our peers—which was recycled after the event. In November at our schools football game we encouraged people to recycle (INDICATE HOW) . In January we had a drive to collect used cell phones (no need for numbers)to help (whoever). We are planning more events such as earth fest where we are hoping to .blah blah ..count daisies.blah blah ( we already know you are raising awareness no need to restate it just give a little idea or describe what you want to do). Environmental Awareness and helping resolve Environmental issues is an important part of my everyday life. I really believe Green Mountains green focus will be an excellent choice of school for me and find the idea of school beyond the classroom very appealing.
