(i am repostingthe question plsansurgent):a metal cube of side 11 cm is completely submerged in a water contained in a cylindrical vessel with diameter 28 cm, find the rise in level of water ?

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Given : Diameter of cylindrical vessel  =  28 cm , So radius  = 14 cm

And when cube submerged rise in water level  = h

Edge of cube  = 11  and we know volume of cube  = ( Edge )3 , So

Volume of given cube  = 113 = 1331

We know volume of cylinder  = π r2 h , So

Volume of water  = 227 × 142 × h =227 × 14× 14× h =  22 × 2 × 14×h =  616 h cm3
Here , when a cube is submerged into a cylindrical vessel, the volume of water displaced is equal to the volume of cube .

Therefore,

616 h =  1331

h 1331616

h 12156 = 2956

So,

Rise in water level  =   2956 cm                                                        (  Ans )
