- Its member strength can be minimum 40 and maximum 70.
- The Municipal Council has Members of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Assembly of that area as Ex-Officio Members.
- Six expert members are appointed by the governor. The mayor is the political head of the municipal corporation, also called the first citizen of that city.
- Mayor-in-Council is the main committee of the Municipal Corporation. The mayor is the ex-officio chairman of this committee and number of members is 11, including the Mayor.
- There are 10 departmental committees headed by the members of the Mayor-in-council and the member strength of all these committees is 7 including the Chairperson.
- The Mayor and Councillors are elected in a direct manner.
