Individuality is a person’s quality that makes hi,/her different from others or thinking for himself/herself without following other's blindly.
A person who is able to maintain individual thoughts, is assumed to be grown up. So, when the poet acquired a sense of individuality and realised that his mind was his, he was able to discriminate between reality and fantasy and between reality and hypocrisy. He was able to take decisions on his own and became independent.
