how does the weathering of rocks in tropical region differ from that of temperate region

Dear Student,

The rate of weathering of rocks in the tropical region is higher than that of the temperate region due to a large amount of rainfall. Heavy rainfall promotes the growth of plants which helps in enhancing the biological weathering. The decomposed organic matter produces certain chemicals that also increases the rate of rock weathering.
Relatively the temperature of tropical regions is also high as they are found near to the equator. High temperature speeds up the chemical reaction rates such as carbonation of limestone.
