how do we distinguish between alkanes,alkenes and alkynes by chemical method?

we can use the formula for differntiation

alkane=Cn(H2n+2)

n and 2n as subscripts

alkene=CnH2n

n and 2n subscripts

alkynes=CnHn

or we use hybridisation mtd but that is not always correct

it it is alkane it is SP3 hybridisation

if it is alkene it is SP2 hybridisation

if it is alkyne it is SP hybridisation.

To dishtinguish between alkanes and unsaturated compounds like alkenes and alkynes, we can use test for unsaturation. If we add bromine water to alkene or alkyne, the colour gets faded whereas in case of alkanes, the colour sustains.

how we convert methene to ethene

ALKANES ARE SINGLE BONDED AND ALKENES ARE DOUBLE BONDED WHEREAS THE ALKYNES ARE TRIPLE BONDED

 ALKANES ARE SINGLE BONDED

ALKENES ARE DOUBLE BONDED

ALKYNES ARE TRIPLE BONDED

Ethyne with ammonical Cuprous chloride form red ppt. While with ammonical silver nitrate it Form white ppt.

Tests to distinguish alkene and alkyne are :- (i)with ammonical silver nitrate solution (tollens reagent) alkyne gives a white precipitate but alkene does not (ii)with an ammonical cuprous chloride , alkyne gives a red precipitate while alkene does not react

1)Alkanes have single bonds between carbons in a hydrocarbon. A quick way to recognize an alkane is the general formula: CnH2n+2 .
2)Alkenes have double bonds between carbons. A quick way to recognize an alkene is its general formula: CnH2n .
3)And alkynes have triple bonds between carbons.
