How do the muscles attached to bones bring about movements?

All muscles of our body whether voluntary or involuntary are able to contract and relax. The bones attached to the muscles move by the alternate contraction and relaxation of the skeletal muscles. This contraction and relaxation of muscles helps in the movement of the body parts.

Muscles contract either isometrically or isotonically, and the bones provide attachment points for the muscles, one is the anchor point, the origin, and the other is the movable point, the insertion. The joint is where the two bones articulate with cartilage to produce the joint that is the lever.
