how do micro-organisms increase the fertility of soil?
A range of microorganisms present in soil contributes in making soil fertile they help in releasing nutrients from organic matter by decomposing the organic waste and dead plants and animals into simple substances, they use carbon and nutrients present in organic matter fro their own food and released the excess nutrients into the soil making it nutrient rich. Some microorganisms e.g, blue green algae present in the soil, they reside in the root nodules of leguminous plants and fix nitrogen from air into soil and increase the soil fertility.
