Municipal Corporations are local-self governments in towns and cities whereas Panchayati Raj is the local-self govrnment in the villages.

Panchayati Raj solves problem at rural level but municipal corporations solve problems at the urban level. Members are elected in panchayat but members are chosen by basis of UAF
