Dear Student,

The subject of a sentence refers to a noun, pronoun or group of words that acts as a noun.

In the first sentence, the subject is 'she'. Here, the pronoun 'she' is used in the place of a noun.

In the second sentence, the group of words 'The lady talking on the phone' acts as a noun. Hence, it is the subject.

Predicate always consists of the verb.

For example, 'moved the box", 'is my father's cousin'. Here 'moved' and 'is' are verbs.
