five cards--the ten, jack, queen, king and ace of diamonds, are well-shuffled with their face down. One card i picked up with random.1)what is the probablity that the card is the queen? 2)if the queen is drawn and put aside, what is the probablity that the secondncard is up is (a) an ace? (b) a queen ?

If there are are five cards in total and each card repeats once. then this means there is only 1 queen and 1 ace

1) out of 5 cards there is only 1 queen. => the probability of picking a queen at random out of the deck of 5 is 1/5 = 20%

2)
a >.  now as the queen has been put aside, then there are only four cards left.
Out of 4 cards there is only 1 ace. => the probavility of picking an ace out of a deck of 4
= 1/4 = 25%

b >. As the queen was kept aside, there is no card of queen in the deck or the no. of cards of the queen in the deck is 0 => the probability of picking a queen from the deck = 0/4 = 0.
