The Sun is a star of our solar system.It was formed about 4.57 billion years ago.It consists mainly of hydrogen and helium. Oxygen,carbon and iron are also found in very less amount. 

The sun is important for us as it is the ultimate source of energy on earth. Plants use sunlight to make their food. This process is known as photosynthesis. Oxygen is released by plants during photosynthesis, which is important for the survival of humans. All the animals are dependent directly or indirectly on plants for their food. Thus sun is important for life on earth.
