Explain the functions of Presiding Officer.

The Presiding Officer is responsible for carrying out free, fair and impartial elections.They are fully in charge of the conduct of the ballot in the polling stations. Their main functions involve:

 1.To cooperate with any instructions from the Returning Officer 
 2. To take charge of a polling station. 
 3. To ensure that all electors are treated impartially and with respect. 
 4. To maintain the secrecy of the ballot 
 5. To supervise the Poll Clerks at the polling station. 
 6.​ Issue ballot papers to voters.
 7.Ensure that voters cast their votes in secret and put them into the appropriate ballot box.
8. To put a check on the activities of political agents, representatives, candidates etc. and restrict them from interfering in the election process.
