Explain the different types of plateaus that is the Intermontane, Piedmont, Continental and the Volcanic plateau.

 a. When a plateau is covered  by mountains on all sides, it is called an Intermontane plateau. The Tibetan plateau, the Bolivian plateau are examples of the Intermontane plateau.

b. When a plateau has a mountain on one side it is called Piedmont plateau. The best examples of Piedmont plateaus are the Malwa plateau in India, the Patagonian plateau in Argentina etc.

c.When a plateau is surrounded by oceans or plains it is called Continental plateau. These plateaus are very huge. The plateaus of western Australia and Africa are examples of Continental plateaus.

d. When a plateau is formed as aresult of a volcanic eruption, it is called a Volcanic plateau. Northern Island Plateau in New Zealand
