Draw parallels of Mughal Administration with India’s “Federalism”.

Dear Student,
We are providing you 2 points regarding the mughal administration and Federalism as practised today :

1)Territorial division :
Mughal Empire : Akbar divided the empire into units for collection of revenue and administration of justice. There were provinces or subahs which were further divided into sarkars(districts) and parganas(sub-district)
Indian Federalism : For the purpose of administration, India is divided into states and union territories which is further divided into district headquarters, district, tehsil(taluka).

2) Tax collection
Mughal empire : Mansabdari System : A mansabdar collected revenue with the help of zamindars who collected tax directly from cultivators.
Indian Federalism : The tax system is divided into centre and state. The central government levies tax on income, custom duties, central excise, service tax etc. State levies VAT, stamp duty, state excise, land revenue & profession tax.

Hope this helps
Regards
Jaya
