Does meiosis never occur in organisms that are  haploid?

Dear Student,

Meiosis is also known as reductional division because it reduces the number of chromosomes in a diploid individual to half or haploid number. When an organism already has haploid number of chromosomes, then there is no need for meiosis to occur. But in some haploid orgainsms undergoing sexual reproduction, two haploid gametes fuse to give rise to diploid zygote. The zygote then undergoes meiosis to produce haploid organism.
