Describe the socio-economic condition of the people in the southern states of india​

During ancient and mediaeval times, southern India was a prosperous region in India. The region had fertile river valleys and coastal regions. Hence, it was rich in agriculture. Rice cultivation was the main occupation of the people. The region also had extensive trading relations with Southeast Asia, the Arab lands and Europe. As southern India has an extensive sea coast, it had many ports from where goods where exported and imported. 

Regarding social condition, the people were divided into Brahminical castes and non--Brahminical castes. Lower caste people were exploited by the upper caste people.
