Describe the economic reforms of Augusus.

He imposed a regular census that was the duty of the censor .It was to provide a fair assessment of the provincial tax burden.This led to  fairer collection of tax revenue.He brought other changes in economy as well like he linked central treasury to the treasuries of all provinces. The expansion and improvement of Roman coinage led to imposition of two new taxes  a poll tax and a land tax which completely funded the imperial system.
