cosine of the phase angle between current and voltage.

phi= 0, P= IV =max

phi= 1, P= 0 , min

It is maximum in a) Resistive circuit when O = 0 then cosO = 1 b) resonance at LCR circuit same O = 0

It is minimum in a) Purely inductive b) Purely capacitive

Non-zero in LCR series circuit
