Decline of Christianity in mediaeval period?

Dear Student,

 Please refer the following points:

a.  The decline of Christianity in the mediaeval period can largely be attributed to the fall of Roman empire.
b. Later many of the Christian beliefs and it institutions came to be challenged.
c. This included authority of the Church and also that of the Pope.
d. Further, not many people followed Christianity with the same amount of faith and were openly sceptical about its beliefs.
e. The downfall can also be attributed to rise of Islam during Middle ages which flourished , which also resulted in large scale conversions.
