Compare the two poems The School Boy and The One Furrow

‘The School Boy’ written by William Blake tells us the longings of a small boy who has to attend school on a summer morning. The boy loves to get up in the morning and listen to the birds singing on the trees. But he hates to go to school as he will miss all the fun. He feels that the whole day will be spent sighing in dismay in the school. The boy says that he cannot take any delight in his books because he wants to be free and so he cannot find pleasure inside a closed room. He implores the parents not to nip the buds when they are tender and allow the children to play freely without sending them to school.
‘The One Furrow’ written by R.S. Thomas is a poem about a boy who loved going to school. He would go to school carrying his pencil, ruler, sponge and slate and anxiously learn whatever was taught there. But as he grew older, he found that the school held no interest for him. He did not find any peace at school and so he learnt to go to the fields and plough them.
Both the poems are about small boys who love nature rather than sit in a closed room and study. They prefer to enjoy nature and not sit and study.
