in part (i),
there is a methyl group substituent at the 3rd carbon while  counting from any of the side of the longest chain of 5 carbons which have only single bonds. So, the name will be 3- Methylpentane.

In part (ii) 
There is a methyl substituent substituent at the 2nd carbon of the longest chain of 4 carbons on counting from downside and it will be at 3rd carbon on counting from upside so, according to IUPAC rule we will count from that side from where the substituent comes first in the longest chain. So, name will be 2-Methylbutane.
so, option D is correct
