By giving examples of elections held in China and Mexico explain free and fair electrol competition

SOLUTION:
  • Every government that hold an elections is not necessarily a democracy. Holding elections is an important aspect of democracy, but what constitutes those elections is an important issue to deal with.  Whether the elections have been organised in a democratic manner, whether those elections offered meaningful choice to the voters are some important questions that determine nature of democratic rule.
  •  For example in China elections are held regularly after a span of 5  years, but only those candidates who are affiliated with communist parties or its allies are allowed to contest elections. Thus there are no choices available to the people in China. so the elections in China do no take place in a fair manner.
  •  Similarly, in Mexico, since 2000, all the elections have been won by  PRI, which has always indulged in  malpractices   so as to win elections. Opposition parties have never won elections. Thus, elections there have been   ricked   and not conducted in a fair and free manner. Election rules have been modified to ensure that PRI always win.
