Bring out the irony in the sentence "Nor Mars his sword. nor war's quick fire shall burn the living record of your memory".

The poet says that neither will war not the god of war may destroy the living record. But the sonnet which is written on a white sheet of paper can be feasibly torn into numerous fragments, which doesn't synchronize with what Shakespeare says.

The irony of the statement is that ,mars,the Greek god of war is so powerful that he could destroy almost every thing in the world and also fire has the ability to burn almost anything it lays its hands upon.So,the reference of the poet of the resistance of his lines against mars and war's quick fire is ironing
