The battle of buxar was fought between Mir Qasim and his allies - the nawad of awadh ,Shuja-ud-Daulah and the Mughal emperor ,Shan Alam 2

The battle of buxar was fought because Mir Qasim tried to free himself . He dismissed the court officals who favored the British . He hired European experts to train his army he also abolished all duties on internal trade so that both Indian and British merchants can trade on equal terms. This was unacceptable to the British merchants as it ended their trade monopoly and hence adversely affected their profits . The British now decided to depose Mir Qasim
