The State Government has constituted Sikkim Power Development Corporation Limited (SPDCL) to speed up developing the small Hyde projects which to date has developed and commissioned 10 MW installed capacity. Energy & Power Department and SPDCL are engaged in harnessing the existing potential by developing hydro power projects below 25 MW capacities. The projects with 25 MW capacities and above are being developed through Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and in Joint Venture (JV) mode.
