all papaya plants bear flowers but fruits are seen only in some. explain

Papaya plants can occur in three sexual forms; male, female and hermaphrodites. A fruit is formed when a fertilization occurs in the ovary of the female flower. So, if a female or a male plant is growing alone, it will produce flowers but it will not produce fruits as both male and female plant is required for fruit formation. Hermaphrodite papaya plants will always bear fruits as their flowers contain both male and female parts.

it is monoecious plant . and hence a plant will not have both male and female reproductive structures . so fruits will be seen only in the plants with pistillate flowers (bears female structure and anther will be absent ) and are not seen in staminate flowers (anther is only present ) .

hope this helps you my friend...................
