Age of Sonia is 3 times the age of Mona. If the sum of their ages is 48 years, how old are they now? ( Also tell me how did you did it )

LET MONA'S  AGE BE  x.   SONIA'S AGE =3x.
x+3x=48
4x=48
x=48/4=12
MONA'S AGE=12 yrs.
SONIA'S AGE = 3x = 3*12=36yrs.
