Solution

Let the CP of each chair = Rs xConsider the first chair on which he gets profit of 15% at a discount of 8%.MP of first chair = Rs 1250Rate of dicount = 8%Discount = 8% of Rs 1250 = 8100×1250 = Rs 100SP of first chair = MP - discount = 1250 - 100 = Rs 1150Profit on first chair = 15%Now, profit% = profitCP×100%15 = profitx×10020Profit = 3x20SP - CP = 3x201150 - x = 3x23000 - 20x = 3x23x = 23000x = 1000So, CP of each chair = Rs 1000Total CP of both chairs = Rs 2000Now, SP of second chair = Rs 1120So, SP of both chairs = 1150 + 1120 = Rs 2270Since total SP > total CP, so there is a profitNow, profit = Total SP - total CP = 2270 - 2000 = Rs 270profit % = profittotal CP×100% = 2702000×100% = 13.5%
