A rectangular park is 45 m long and 30 m wide. A park 2.5 m wide is constructed outside the park . Find the area of the path.
Pls explain without any weblink

Length of park ABCD, l = 45 m Breadth of park ABCD, b = 30 m Width of park = 2.5 m Area of park ABCD = l × b = 45 × 30= 1350 m2Length of rectangle EFGH, L = 50 m Breadth of rectangle EFGH, B = 35 m Area of rectangle EFGH = L × B = 50 × 35= 1750 m2Area of path = area of EFGH - area of ABCD= 1750 - 1350 = 400 m2

Let's take the rectangular park as inner rectangle.
Length (inner rectangle)= 45m
Breadth (inner rectangle)=30m
Area=length*breadth
       = 45*30
        =1350m2
{Important:- Let's take outer rectangle as inner rectangle (length&breadth) +path (width)}
Length (outer rectangle)=45+2.5+2.5
                                        =50m
Breadth (outer rectangle)=30+2.5+2.5
                                         =35m
Area= length*breadth
        =50*35
         =1750m2
Therefore, Area of the path= Area (outer rectangle) - Area (inner rectangle)
                                            =1750-1350
                                             =400m2
That's it, this is how you find the solution to this question. Hope you find it helpful. For reference, draw a diagram and understand the concept.
