A RECENT SURVEY FOUND THAT THE AGES OF WORKERS IN FACTORY ARE DISTRJBUTED AS

AGE IN YRS 20-29,30-39.40-49,50-59,60 AND ABOVE

NO.OF WORKERS 38,27,86,46,3

IF A PERSON IS SELECTED AT RANDOM FIND THE PROBABILITY THAT THE PERSON IS

1. 40 YRS OR MORE

2.UNDER 40YRS

3.UNDER 60 BUT NOT OVER 39YRS

 total number of workers = 200

no of workers above 40 yrs= 135

probability= 135/200

  =27/40

no of workers under 40yrs=65

probability=65/200

=13/40

no of workers under 60 but not over 39=65

probability= 65/200

= 13/40

Total number of workers=38+27+86+46+3=200 So, to find : 1. 40 years or more Number of workers more than 40 years= 86+46+3 = 135 Therefore probability=135÷200 =27/40 2. Under 40 years Number of workers under 40 years = 38+27 = 65 So, probability = 65÷200 = 13/40 3. Having age from 30 to 39 years Number of workers from 30 to 39 years= 27 So, probability= 27÷200 = 0.135
