A parent has collected data of number of school based on the monthly fees, so that he can choose the school for admission of his child. Data is as follows:

Monthly school fee (in Rs) 250-500 500-750 750-1000 1000-1250 1250-1500 1500-1750 1750-2000
No. of Schools 14 16 18 12 14 8 8

If a school is selected at random, find the probability that the school is having
(i) minimum fee
(ii) maximum fee
(iii) fee of atmost Rs 1000
(iv) fee between Rs 1000 and Rs 1500

Dear student
Total  number of schools=14+16+18+12+14+8+8=90i) number of schools having minimum fee ie 250-500 is 14So required probability=favourable outcomestotal outcomes=1490=745ii) number of schools having maximum fee  ie 1750-2000 is 8So required probability=favourable outcomestotal outcomes=890=445
iii)Number of schools having fee atmost Rs1000=14+16+18=48So, Required probability=4890=815iv) Number of schools having fee between Rs1000 and Rs1500=12+14=26Required probability=2690=1345

i) p(minimum fee) = 14/90=7/45
ii) p(maximum fee) = 8/90 = 4/45
iii) p(fee atmost rs.1000) = 48/90 =8/15
iv) p(fee between 1000 to 1500) = 26/90 = 13/45
hope it helps.... :)
