A man sold 1/2 of his land. He gave 1/2 of the remaining portion to his son and 1/2 of the remaining to his daughter. What fraction of his land is left with him

Suppose the land is 100%

He sells 50% , gives 1/2 of the other 50% to his son,that is, 25% goes to his son. From the remaining 25%, half goes to his daughter i.e, 12.5%. what remains with him is the other 12.5 % that is 12.5 /100 = 1/8th of the whole land.
