A can do a work in 30 days .He works at it for 5 days and then B finishes it in 20 days. In how many , A and B together can do it ? 

Let the total work be x
A does he work in 30 days, so A complete 1/6 work in 5 days, so the work done by A is x/6 and the work remaining is 5x/6
B finishes the 5/6 work in 20 days, so B  could do the whole work in 20 * 6/5 days = 24 days.
A's one day work is 1/30
B's one day work is 1/24
so in one day A and B together could do 1/30 + 1/24 work = (4 + 5)/120 = 9/120 = 3/40 x
so they could together do the work in 40/3 days = 13.33 days
