Mass of H2 molecule = 2 amu
Mass of oxygen molecule O2 = 32 amu
Mass of H2O molecule = 18 amu
Mass of 2 moles of H2 = 2×6.023×1023×2 amu
Mass of 1 mole of O2 = 1×6.023×1023×32 amu
Thus, total mass of the reactants, mr=4×6.023×1023 amu + 32×6.023×1023 amu =36×6.023×1023 amu
Mass of 2 moles of H2O = 2×6.023×1023×18 amu
Mass of the product, mp=36×6.023×1023amu
Thus, total mass of the reactants = mass of the product.
Hence, mass remains conserved in the reaction.
